Spendthrift Lovers is a play in the style of Lysistrata based on a true event involving a prostitutes on strike on the island of Hawaii at the beginning of World War II.

The prostitutes had been roughed up by the Vice Police and forced to pay bribes to keep working. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, General Emmons becomes the US Army military governor of Hawaii. Emmons is also a client of Lydia, one of the ladies. Lydia and Claire rouse a prostitute strike and will no longer work until General Emmons gets the Vice Police to treat them fairly.
