Civic Youth Theatre

Since the early 1940s, thousands of youth from the greater Kalamazoo area have been educated and entertained by attending or participating in The Civic Youth Theatre (“CYT”). For many of our young patrons, a CYT production serves as an introduction to theatre as an art form. Youth involved in a CYT production learn that it takes a lot of hard work to produce a show! The educational benefits include memorization of lines, introduction to stage terminology, scenery painting, pulling of props, front of house/box office experience, stage management training, etc. all while building lasting friendships and developing a sense of self-confidence.
