DRAMA
In 1961 the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre was the first community theatre in the country to present this now-historic work. It is with great pride, that as part of our 75th Anniversary, we once again present this amazing play. Set in Chicago’s South Side during the 1950s, this powerful drama focuses on the dreams and conflicts found within three generations of the Younger family. Mama dreams of moving to a decent home, her son dreams of buying a business and becoming his own man, while her young, liberated daughter dreams of medical school. These dreams are tested as they come face to face with the harsh realities of racism and bigotry.
