Delaney McKenzie

Resident Lighting Designer

Delaney joined the Civic staff in 2018 as the Master Electrician and became the Resident Lighting and Sound Designer in 2020. She earned her BS in Theater: Design and Technology at Northwest Missouri State University and a MFA in Theater at Southern Illinois University where she specialized in Lighting Design. She has worked with the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, EndstationTheater Company, McLeod Summer Playhouse, and two years as the Lead Lighting Technician at Interlochen. Delaney had the pleasure of being Assistant Lighting Designer and Programmer for James Moody on Tartuffe at Southern Illinois University in 2016. Mr. Moody is the author of ‘ConcertLighting: Techniques, Art, and Business’, and an alumnus of SIU. Outside of the theatre, Delaneyisa painter in her spare time, spending hours in her studio creating abstract art while listening to show tunes or Top Gear episodes. She also enjoys making jewelry (evolved from her time making costuming chainmail) and is learning to play guitar.
