Anthony J. Hamilton

Artistic Director

Anthony is delighted to step into the role of Artistic Director at the Kalamazoo Civic. Prior to this appointment, he served as Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts at K College, where he directed the Festival Playhouse production, Next to Normal.

Having honed his craft(s) as a longtime Civic volunteer, audiences may remember Hamilton as an usher, box office assistant, and a performer in our previous productions: Camelot, Anything Goes, 42nd Street, Ragtime, Godspell, Ain’t Misbehavin, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Previous directing (and choreography) credits at the Civic include: A Raisin in the Sun, Newsies, The Piano Lesson, The 1940s Radio Hour, Once on this Island, and Ain’t Misbehavin’.

Hamilton received a B.A. from Western Michigan University and an M.F.A. from Florida State University/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training.
