If you’ve ever had a houseguest that wore out his welcome, you know exactly how the Stanley family feels when one of their dinner guests, the irascible Sheridan Whiteside, slips on their doorstep and breaks his hip. During his six week convalescence, the unfriendly curmudgeon monopolizes the living room, runs up phone bills, and plays host to ex-convicts. Ultimately, the Stanley’s are forced to concoct an outlandish scheme to rid themselves of their unwanted guest… but will it work? Written by the same talented duo who brought us You Can’t Take it With You, The Front Page, and Once in a Lifetime, this Broadway classic is a perfect blend of high comedy and low farce, populated by an extravagant array of eccentric but believable characters.
