NEMITZ, ART
Art has a long and impressive list of theatrical credits. For over 40 years he has made an incredible contribution to local theatre as an actor, director and producer. As an actor Art has given memorable performances in On Golden Pond, Over the River and Through the Woods, Broadway Bound, Cabaret, Two by Two, The Man Who Came to Dinner, The Sunshine Boys, and The Diary of Anne Frank. Currently a member of our Board of Directors, Art is also the Past President of the Community Theatre Association of Michigan Board of Directors. His awards, which are numerous, include CTAM’s Dorothy Arnett Volunteer Service Award as well as the State of Michigan’s Community Medal of Arts (for his work in local theatre), the CTAM Excellence in Performance Award, our Larkin H. Noble Award and the 2004 Community Medal of Arts Award. With Kathy Mulay, he co-directed our KCYT/CST summer youth program for over fifteen years. He is retired from the Portage Public Schools where he served as teacher and drama director at Northern High School and then as the District K-12 Curriculum and Assessment Director. Currently active with the Portage Senior Center, Art frequently escorts groups on theatre-related trips to New York City and Chicago. He has been married to Linda for forty-eight wonderful years. He has two daughters: Julie, who lives with her family in New Jersey, and Jennifer, who lives with her family in Wisconsin.
